On July 19, 2005 at 5:34 AM Squad 2 was alerted to a building fire at the Great American Steak and Buffet in Waldorf. Numerous other companies from Charles and Prince George’s counties were alerted. LaPlata Engine 11 was filling in at Waldorf Co.3 because of two house fires at the same time in southern Prince George’s County. The initial 911 calls were reporting fire through the roof of the restaurant. Engine 11 and Waldorf Engine 31 arrived together to find heavy smoke showing and fire venting through the roof. Crews attempted an interior attack but as the condition of the building deteriorated, crews were ordered out of the building and four elevated master streams were put into operation. Squad 2 operated on the scene for over three hours.
