On 10-08-04 at 3:13 p.m., units from Hughesville Fire and EMS and Benedict EMS were alerted to Leonardtown Road at Prince Frederick Road for the auto accident with injuries. Ambulance 28 arrived first and reported there was one person trapped in a vehicle on it’s side.

The Benedict and Mechanicsville (St. Mary’s County) fire departments were alerted to respond as well as the Charles County Medic Unit. Squad 2 arrived, stabilized the vehicle and extricated the patient, using various “Hurst” hydraulic tools. Benedict’s Engine 52 was sent to Burnt Store Road to establish a landing zone for MSP’s Trooper 7 helicopter. Hughesville’s ambulance cared for the patient who was medevaced, while Dentsville’s ambulance transported the only other injured patient. Squad 2 cleared the call at 3:50 p.m.
