On August 5, 2003, the Hughesville Volunteers participated in the “National Night Out” gatherings in the neighborhoods of Carriage Crossing and Malcolm. Everyone enjoyed the good food and a night full of fun and getting to know each other. The community expressed their interest and appreciation in the Fire and EMS services by asking lots of interesting questions and children got to feel what it’s like to be a firefighter by putting on some of the firefighting gear and holding and looking at many of the tools.
The highlight of the night was the volleyball match, where Fire and EMS personnel tried but failed to beat the community (maybe we need to stick with what we do best). Overall, the night was a huge success for the community and the members of Hughesville Fire & EMS Dept. Everyone is looking forward to participating in next year’s event!
We’d like to thank the communities of Carriage Crossing and Malcolm for their warm hospitality.
