On August 28, 2008 at 9:47 AM units from Hughesville Fire and EMS and Benedict Fire and EMS were alerted to Brandywine Road at the county line for the auto accident with injuries and people trapped. Squad 2 and Paramedic Ambulance 28 found the accident in Prince George’s County, just over the Charles County line. The accident was a two car “t-bone” type accident with one person trapped. Crews stabilized the vehicle and began the extrication. The driver’s side rear door and “B” post were removed as well as the roof. The passenger’s front door was pinning the passenger’s feet, so firefighters used the Hurst Maverick tool and the Road Runner tool together to open the floorboard area and free his feet. Two patients were medevaced from the scene as well as one that was transported by ground to an area hospital. Benedict Engine 52 handled the landing zone in a nearby field. Sgt. Wells had the Hughesville Command and units cleared at 10:47 AM.
