On July 31, 2006 at 1:12 pm units from Hughesville and surrounding companies were alerted to Bryantown Road and Leonardtown Road for a reported dump truck overturned with injuries. Squad 2 arrived on the scene to find a dump truck on its side about 75 feet from the intersection. Ambulance 39 and Medic 16 administered care to the driver of the dump truck and transported him to Civista Medical Center. Upon up righting the dump truck Squad 2 found that a storm drain cover had been ripped off and fluids from the vehicle had contaminated the water. Squad 2 requested Hazmat 16 to respond and pump the fluid out of the storm drain with a pneumatic pump and placed the contents into a barrel, which was then secured and picked up by MDE. (Maryland Department Environment). All units went in service at 5:18 pm.
