On May 4, 2008 at 1:55 AM units from Hughesville Fire and EMS and Benedict EMS were alerted to the 8100 block of Leonardtown Road for the auto accident with injuries. The county police arrived first reporting 6 patients with possibly four for transport. Units from Hughesville arrived to find two people trapped in a passenger car and one trapped in a minivan. Additional ambulances were requested to the scene and the extrication process began on both vehicles. Both doors and the roof were taken off the passenger car and the “B” post and the driver’s seat back were removed from the minivan. As additional ambulances arrived the patients were removed from the vehicles and transported to area hospitals. A total of three were transported and three signed refusals. Chief 2A (Thomas) had the command and the last unit cleared at 2:49 AM.
