On June 28, 2010 at 12:24 AM, Hughesville was alerted for an engine to respond to the 30,000 block of Three Notch Road in Charlotte Hall for the house fire. Engine 23 (Mercure) responded at dispatch with 6 personnel. Engine 23 found a fully involved trailer with partial collapse at the corner of Golden Beach Road and Charlotte Hall Road. Engine 23 laid a line in from the street and positioned in front of the trailer. The crew deployed two 1 3/4″ attack lines and began an exterior attack. Mechanicsville Engine 21 and Engine 224 completed a relay from a hydrant on Three Notch Road to supply Engine 23. Lieutenant Mercure established the command and held units from Hughesville and Mechanicsville only. After approximately 2 hours of extinguishment and overhaul, Engine 23 returned to service.
