On Thursday October 2, 2003 at approximately 7:16 pm., units from Hughesville, Mechanicsville, Benedict, Waldorf and Prince Frederick were alerted to 7820 Tall Oaks Place for the shed fire. As units marked up on the air, the Communication’s Center reported to the responding units that there were a couple of calls which one stated the fire was approaching the house and vehicles.

Engine 23 arrived and laid approximately 800′ of 3″ supply line to the fire. Engine 23 found the shed on fire and established the “Tall Oaks Command.” As the crew stretched a 1 3/4″ attack line, they realized that it wasn’t a shed on fire but rather a boat and car on fire in a wooded area. Crews quickly knocked the fire down and held units from Hughesville and Mechanicsville only. The fire was determined to have accidental ignited by a person who was working on the car. Benedict’s Engine 53 filled Hughesville’s quarters.
