On 10-13-03 at 8:06 am, engine companies 3 and 2 were alerted to 12305 Billingsley Road for a trash compactor on fire at the County Landfill.

Hughesville’s engine 22 arrived on the scene at 8:14 am and found a working fire involving a construction vehicle (bulldozer). The crew from Engine 22 attacked the fire using a 200′ 1 3/4″ crosslay. The crew extinguished the fire quickly, which involved the cab and engine compartment.

Waldorf’s engine 33 (who was caught and delayed because of a passing train) arrived on the scene and assisted with the operation. Overhaul was extensive due to the complex construction of the bulldozer.

Units were placed in service at 8:50 am. Waldorf’s Capt 3 (Ryan Pagel) had the command.
