On 11-06-04 units from Hughesville Fire and EMS, Mechanicsville (St. Mary’s County) Fire and EMS, LaPLata, Bel Alton and Benedict fire departments were alerted to Charles Street near the St. Mary’s County line for the working barn fire. Units arrived to find one barn fully involved with extension to another barn and a shed. Units operated on the scene for approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes. Captain 2 (Thomas) was the incident commander.
