On November 9, 2004, Hughesville Fire and EMS and Mechanicsville EMS (St. Mary’s County) were alerted to respond to the area of 15165 Oaks Road for a motor vehicle accident with injuries.

Units arrived to find a single vehicle accident with one victim. Hughesville volunteers assessed the victim’s injuries and determined that the patient needed to be medevaced to an area trauma center. Maryland State Police’s Trooper 7 responded and landed in a nearby field before transporting the patient, while Mechanicsville’s Engine 24 stood by. Captain 2 (Thomas) was the incident commander.
