On July 29, 2008 at 9:38 AM Squad 2 and Tanker 2 were alerted to Forest Knolls Place in Waldorf for the gas leak inside the building. Squad 2 responded with 4 and arrived in staging, while Tanker 2 responded with 2 and was cancelled enroute. After being placed in service, communications alerted the engine from Hughesville, the engine from Benedict and the ladder truck from Waldorf to respond to the Chalk Point Generating Station in Prince George’s County for the building fire. Tanker 2 responded from Leonardtown Road and LaPlata Road as an engine and had the squad respond with them to make up staffing. Baden Chief 836 arrived first with a working fire approximately 80′ up in a scrubbing machine. Brandywine Engine 840 arrived next, laid dual lines from an alley way and took up a position next to the machine on fire. Tanker 2 was the next arriving, picking up the dual lines and supplying Engine 840. Baden Engine 361 arrived next, laid dual lines from Tanker 2 down an alley to a hydrant to supply Tanker 2. Prince Frederick Tower 2 and Accokeek Tower 24 arrived and began flowing elevated master streams onto the fire. A crash truck from Andrew’s Air Force Base arrived and flowed foam onto the structure to assist in extinguishment. Units operated on the scene for approximately three and a half hours before being released by command.
