On 08-19-08 at 8:27 AM, Squad 2 was alerted to a house fire with people trapped on Breezy Point Court in the Sheffield neighborhood in Waldorf. Squad 2 responded with six personnel. After calling in with a second crew and communications receiving confirmation of a working fire, Engine 22 was alerted. Engine 22 responded with four personnel and Chief 2A (Herbert). Waldorf Engine 31 arrived with a working fire in a two story single family house. Squad 2’s crew assisted with searching the first floor, then ventilation and eventually salvage and overhaul. One resident was found deceased in the basement of the house by those crews operating in the basement. Engine 22’s crew was assigned as the Rapid Intervention Team. Squad 2 operated on the scene for approximately 5 hours and Engine 22 operated for approximately 2 hours.
