At 0352hrs, the Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad was alerted for a motor vehicle accident with reports of people trapped in the area of Leonardtown Road and Deborah Drive. Rescue Squad 2 responded and arrived on the scene to find a single vehicle into a tree with the driver trapped. The crew from the Rescue Squad started extrication on the victim until St. Mary’s Engine 23 arrived to assist. It was a lengthy extrication, as the car and occupant were up against a large tree. After the patient was extricated, care was turned over to awaiting EMS and flown to Prince Georges Trauma Center by Trooper 7.

Engine 22 responded and handled the LZ.
