On August 22, 2005 units from Bel Alton Fire and EMS, Dentsville EMS, the LaPlata Fire Department and Charles County Medic 16 responded to Charles Street at Bel Alton Newtown Road for the auto accident with people trapped. Bel Alton Chief 10 requested the closest squad started which brought Hughesville Squad 2. Squad 2, under the command of Lieutenant Mike Carroll arrived and assisted in stabilizing the vehicle. The vehicle was on its side with the driver’s arm trapped between the vehicle and the roadway. Hughesville Tanker 2 also responded to the scene and established a landing zone for the medevac helicopter. One patient was medevaced from the scene and one was transported by ground. Units from Hughesville cleared in just under one hour.
