On November 6th at approximately 228PM, Hughesville Volunteers along with Waldorf VFD and PG Station 836 were alerted to the area of Slater Drive for the brush fire. Units arrived on scene to find a large brush fire of approximately 4-5 acres and requested multiple additional units to include a water task force as the area does not have hydrants.

Nearly all stations in Charles County and multiple stations in Calvert, St Mary’s and PG Counties sent units to assist with controlling the fire. In addition, Maryland Forestry Service sent multiple units including dozers to cut in fire lines. Battalion Chief 3A held the command during the incident.

Units worked for several hours to control and extinguish the fire. In total over 40 units and 75 personnel responded to this incident. During the incident Bryan’s Road VFD provided an engine and St Leonard VFD from Calvert provided a tanker to fill in at our station for other calls. During this event, Squad 2 remained staffed at our station and took in an extrication collision.
