On May 14, 2004, members from the Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Inc. went to T.C. Martin Elementary School to participate in “Career Day.”

Tanker 2 and Ambulance 27 were on display while personnel provided talks and demonstrations about fire and life safety to the children. Many other agencies participated in the event, including the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Park Police, U. S. Capitol Police and the Secret Service. The United States Armed Forces were represented along with a Navy Seahawk helicopter, which landed at the school and was on display.
