On Saturday June 28, 2008 at 5:23 PM units from Hughesville Fire & EMS were alerted to the 4600 block of Clayton Road for the house fire. Engine 23 with Chief 2A onboard was the first arriving with a single story, single family residence with fire through the roof. An interior attack was attempted, but crews were pulled out once the roof started collapsing in. A nearby pond was used as a water source with Baden Engine 361 drafting from there. Engine 22 laid approximately 800′ of supply line to Engine 361 once a draft was established. Once the bulk of the fire was knocked down, crews were allowed to re-enter the house and finish overhaul. Chief 2A (Thomas) was the incident commander and units cleared at 8:16 PM.
