On 12-11-04 at approximately 11:18 AM, units from Hughesville Fire and EMS and the Waldorf Fire Department were alerted to 15170 Lockwood Place for the injured subject. As units were responding they were advised this was an injured subject in a “cherry picker”, who was unconscious and approximately thirty feet in the air stuck in the cherry picker. Units from Hughesville arrived to find the victim unconscious and unresponsive in the basket of the cherry picker, still up in the air. Firefighters were able to lower the basket to the ground by using the controls on the back of the cherry picker. The victim was found not breathing and without a pulse. CPR was started and the victim was transported to Civista Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. It appears the victim was struck by part of the tree he was cutting down.
