On January 7, 2007 at 3:54 AM units from Hughesville Fire and EMS and other surrounding companies were alerted to Leonardtown Road in the area of the Zekiah Swamp for the auto accident with injuries. Units arrived to find a vehicle overturned in the water and completely submersed. Members from the responding dive teams entered the water and found one deceased occupant pinned in the vehicle. The victim was extricated and confirmed deceased. Squad 2 remained on the scene to assist the police with lighting while the vehicle was removed from the water. Chief 2A (Thomas) had the command and units cleared at 6:49 AM.
