On 2-10-08 at 10:16 PM Hughesville firefighters were alerted to 40050 New Market Turner Road in St. Mary’s County for the house fire. Engine 23 responded with a crew of four and left a driver back for the Tanker. Once it was confirmed the tanker was due, Tanker 2 responded driver only. Engine 23 was the second piece on the scene behind Mechanicsville Engine 23 who reported heavy fire showing from a two story single family dwelling. Engine 23’s crew advanced a back up line while the driver hooked up to the humat valve to supply Mechanicsville’s Engine 23. After the bulk of the fire was knocked down, extensive overhaul was completed by members from Mechanicsville, Hughesville and Hollywood. Engine 23 returned home at 12:25 AM. Damage was estimated at $150,000.00.
