At 0817 Communications dropped tones for the house fire in the 14600 block of Banks O’Dee Road in Newburg’s first due. Due to a late response from some stations, Communications added Station 2, King George Co 1, and St Marys Company 2. While Engine 22 was enroute, Squad 10 marked on the scene with heavy smoke showing, charging the line on the Squad. Moments later Squad 10 advised heavy fire on the first floor of the residence. Engine 61 arrived a short time later placing 2 hand lines in service.
Engine 143 set up a draft at the the end of Banks O’Dee Rd at the Potomac River, supplying Tanker 6 to complete the water supply.
Engine 22 arrived behind Truck 1, who had already ventilated the residence, and was directed to bring lights and hooks to the residence. Engine 22’s crew and Truck 1’s crew worked to opening up the residence and mop up hot spots.
Command was held by Chief 10B (Hackley) and operations by Capt 10 (Williams).
Many thanks to St Marys Engine 21, who was diverted from the fire, for filling our quarters while we operated on the scene.
