At 10:11 am on December 13, 2003, tones dropped for a house fire on Hopewell Place in La Plata. Squad 2 and Tanker 2 responded Deputy Chief Herbert and 6 personnel aboard.

Engine Co. 1 (LaPlata) arrived on the scene with fire showing. Upon making entry into the house, crews were met at the door by fire. As the first engine crew was making their way through the structure, Hughesville’s squad crew opened up the roof, venting the heat and smoke for the crews inside. After the fire was knocked down, command held Engine Companies 1(La Plata), 3(Waldorf) and Truck 11(Bryans Road).
