On 12-19-06 at 7:02 AM Hughesville Volunteers were alerted to Eden View Court East in St. Mary’s County for the house fire. Engine 22 responded and was the first arriving to find heavy fire showing from a two-story wood frame residence. Also a burn victim (already out of the house) was located suffering from second and third degree burns to his body as well as inhalation burns. The patient was attended to by the Mechanicsville Rescue Squad and Charles County Medic Ambulance 167 (running from Hughesville). The victim was medevaced from the scene by U.S. Park Police Eagle 2. Several handlines were put in place in an attempt to control the fire as well as the elevated master stream from Hollywood Truck 7. After several hours, the fire was extinguished and overhaul was completed. There were no firefighter injuries as a result of this fire, but two pets perished in the fire. The house was a total loss. Mechanicsville Chief 2 (Johnson) had the command and Engine 22 cleared at 10:48 AM.
