On January 23, 2011 at 6:53AM, Hughesville volunteers were alerted to the 29,000 block of Livingston Drive off of New Market Turner Road for the chimney fire. Engine 23 (Harris) responded at dispatch with 4 personnel and the tanker wasn’t far behind with an additional 2 personnel. While enroute a column of smoke could be seen from about 4 miles away. At that point St. Mary’s Communications was upgrading the call to a working house fire. Engine 23 arrived and laid out from New Market Turner Road. Engine 23 reported a two story residence with heavy fire showing from the “Delta” side and the second floor. Tanker 2 arrived and picked up 23’s supply line. Crews utilized 4 attack lines to stop and extinguish the fire. Units from Hughesville operated on the scene for a little over 3 hours. A good job was done by all, with no firefighter or civilian injuries reported.

Units from Mechanicsville, Hughesville, Hollywood, Benedict and Avenue operated on this fire.
