On Tuesday July 10th as severe storms rolled through the area a barn fire was dispatched on Foster Lane off of Gallant Green Road. Units from Hughesville arrived to find an approximately 60′ X 40′ barn fully involved. Engine 23 layed a line in from a split in the driveway and attempted to get close to the barn, however the 3″ of rain that was in the process of coming down prevented that. Once Engine 23 stopped sliding, the crew advanced the 400′ line and began attacking the fire. The barn collapsed just after Engine 23 arrived. Command held the units from Hughesville and Benedict, Laplata Tanker 1, and Waldorf Truck 3. Crews worked on the scene for a little over 2 hours and then with the help of G&M Towing, returned to quarters. Captain 2 (Herbert) had the command.

While operating on this scene Waldorf Engine 122 and Baden Tanker 36 filled our quarters. Both of those units ran a first due residential gas leak on Bassford Road.
