On December 2, 2003 at 12:08 pm, units from Hughesville Fire and EMS, Mechanicsville Fire and EMS and the Charles County Mobile Intensive Care Unit were alerted to Leonardtown Road and Herbert Road for the auto accident with injuries and entrapment. Squad 2, Ambulance 27 and Chief 2A (Scott Herbert) arrived to find a two vehicle accident where one of the vehicles did in fact roll over.

The crews found only one injured person who was still in his vehicle. The squad’s crew had to use the “road runner” hurst tool to pop the driver’s door open in order to gain access to the injured person. Ambulance 27 transported the victim to a local hospital, with only minor injuries. Chief 2A, Scott Herbert, was the incident commander and units cleared the scene at 12:35 pm.
