On 1/24/2022 Baltimore City Fire Department responded to a house fire inside the city. While battling the fire, Lt. Butrim from Truck 23, Firefighter Sadler from Engine 14 and Firefighter Lacayo from Engine 14 were tragically killed in the line of duty. A fourth firefighter was seriously injured and transported to Shock Trauma in Baltimore where he is fighting for his life.

Hughesville VFD Volunteers would like to extend our condolences to the family and friends of those killed in the line of duty. We would also wish the fourth firefighter a speedy recovery.

Governor Hogan ordered the flags to half staff in honor of these hero’s. Hughesville Volunteers lowered our flags and continue to mourn for our brothers and sisters of Baltimore City.
