On 01-04-06 at approximately 6:36 PM units from Hughesville Fire and EMS and companies from Prince George’s, St. Mary’s and Calvert counties were alerted to Woodville Road at the Prince George’s county line for the auto accident involving a propane truck. Units arrived to find a single vehicle accident with an overturned propane truck on fire. The driver had gotten away from the vehicle prior to the arrival of the fire department. After assessing the situation, the decision was made to allow the product to burn off. The process was sped up with the assistance of the Maryland Department of the Environment. Units remained on the scene for approximately fifiteen hours. Chief 2B (Thomas) was the incident commander and the last unit cleared on 01-05-06 at approximately 9:26 AM.
