On December 20, 2003 at 9:03 PM units from Hughesville Fire and EMS, Dentsville EMS, Mechanicsville Fire and the Charles County Mobile Intensive Care Unit were alerted to the 8500 block of Keech Road for the auto accident with injuries and entrapment. Engine 102 and Ambulance 109 (Bel Alton Fire and EMS) were in the area and responded extra. Units arrived to find a single vehicle overturned in the roadway with a female occupant trapped. Crews stabilized the vehicle and extricated the victim by removing the driver’s door and lifting the vehicle with “Hurst” hydraulic rescue tools. A medevac helicopter was requested, which brought Trooper 7 to the scene. The victim sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital by Ambulance 158 (Dentsville EMS) and Trooper 7 was not utilized. Hughesville Volunteers responded with 3 pieces of apparatus and a total of 12 personnel. Chief 2B (Eddie McPherson) was the incident commander and the last unit cleared at 10:05 PM.
