On Tuesday, August 2, 2005, members of the Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Inc. took the opportunity to participate in the annual National Night Out.
This event occurs throughout the Country on the first Tuesday of every August and provides a chance for people to meet their neighbors and interact with them. Most importantly, it is designed to promote safety and to halt crime in all areas of the Country on this single night.
This year, our department visited with the communities from Independence Village, Carriage Crossing, and the Malcolm area. While our members enrolled in some volleyball and horseshoe games and eat some fine food, they provide discussions and demonstrations about fire and life safety practices and recruited potential new volunteer members.
All of our members would like to thank everyone of the communities that welcomed us into their lives and provided us the opportunity to join them in their celebrations. It was truly an enjoyable and safe night for everyone! In return, we would like to extend an invitation to everyone in our community to our Annual Open House in October.
