The Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department & Rescue Squad, Inc. would like to send our deepest regrets to the family of 20 year-old volunteer firefighter and Army National Guardsman Nicholas “Nick” Mason. As we understand it, Nick had a passion for firefighting and was a member of the King George Volunteer Fire Department.

King George fire departments often respond, as a mutual aide company, to Charles County. Nick was one of 22 people killed in this week’s mess-tent suicide bombing in northern Iraq.

Nick Mason was dedicated to serving his Country and his community and will always be remembered. He truly is a perfect example of selfless dedication to service.
