On November 11, 2004 at about 9:52 PM, Hughesville Fire and EMS was alerted to assist Benedict Fire and EMS with a head-on collision on Prince Frederick Road near Orchard View Place.

Units from Benedict arrived to find a two vehicle head-on type collision with one person trapped in each vehicle. Benedict’s Engine 52 extricated one person while Squad 2 extricated the other. A third patient was not trapped. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the other two victims were medevaced from the scene by MSP’s Troopers 2 and Trooper 7. Hughesville volunteers operated on the scene for about 1 hour 30 minutes. Chief 5A (Ruslander) was the incident commander.
