Having grown up in Hughesville in the late 1950’s through the mid 1960’s, I remember the classic Hughesville WHITE fire trucks. The only ones in all of Southern Maryland, I believe. I remember the Halloween parties at the old fire house in the center of Hughesville . . .dunking for apples, bingo, costume contests, etc. I remember when the tobacco barns burned . . .1963 or 1964? Huntley/Brinkley that night described Hughesville as “the world’s largest ash tray!”
Thank you for all that you do. I still own a property in Hughesville, although I no longer live there.
