At 9:19 PM on February 1, units from Hughesville Fire and EMS and Baden’s EMS were alerted to respond to an auto crash at the intersection of Malcolm Road and Poplar Hill Road. Ambulance 369 (Baden) was the first unit to arrive on the scene and found that the crash was actually on Poplar Hill Road.

After a quick scene survey and patient evaluation, A-369’s crew requested a medic unit and a Helicopter. The patient got themselves out of the mangled truck and was placed in the back of the ambulance. While the ambulance crew worked to stabilize and treat the injured patient, Hughesville’s engine 22 arrived and established “Poplar Hill Road Command.” Engine 22’s crew secured the power to the vehicle and stood by to wait for the tow-truck. Hughesville’s tanker 2 was alerted to set up the landing zone for MSP’s Trooper 7 which, was at Malcolm Elementary School.

The patient was flown to a local trauma center for further care. The injuries were not believed to be life threatening.
