At 1503 hrs units from Company 2 (Hughesville), EMS 5 (Benedict), and the Charles County Medic Unit (Medic 1) were dispatched to a Motor Vehicle accident with injuries involving a motorcycle on Burnt Store Road. Squad 2 was the first arriving unit under the direction of Dep Chief Scott Herbert. Moments later Ambulances 27 and 28 arrived on the scene finding a patient lying on his back after striking a tree on an ATV. The patient was suffering from injuries to his head, chest, abdomen and legs. A helocopter was requested shortly after the units arrived, bringing Tanker 2 to the scene to set up the LZ for the helo in a nearby field. After stabilizing the patient, he was loaded into the helo and transported to a local trauma center to undergo further care. Units were placed in service at 1555, when Ambulance 28 responded to another unrelated call.
