Thank you for coming down our road tonight and surprising our kids with a visit from Santa. This was our first experience with this tradition and it was appreciated.
Thank you to the crew that came down to fill in for us yesterday while we are on the fire. We appreciate the help in getting our apparatus restored upon our return.

Early morning visit from the HVFDEMS for a possible gas leak and I'm so grateful. This 20F weather can wreak havoc on gas lines BUT I'm thankful that it wasn't anything major.
THANKS to the entire team of first responders. You all are awesome.
Good luck in your search for volunteers!
You guys are the best!!!

Just about an hour ago, I was on my way home when my boyfriend got really sick and threw up. This fire station just happened to be the closest parking lot and a woman who worked here just happened to be in the parking lot. I'm sorry I didn't catch your name, but I just wanted to say thank you again for your help. We're from Prince Frederick so not even your community, nor an official call, but you lent cleaning supplies and checked on us all the same and it just makes all the difference sometimes to have a little help when things go wrong like that. So great work in the community and thank you!
Enjoyed your site ...great links!
I'd like to take this time to wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and a Great New Year....keep up the good work and be safe!
Please feel free to stop by and view my Fire and Ems art and designs and sign my new guestbook
Best Regards Paul

Thanks again for the Santa run, this is a wonderful thing you do. The stresses that you endure on a daily basis as firefighters and first responders would make it easy to just go home and relax. But this contribution to the community really makes me think you all must be the most giving and caring group of people.
I applaud your generosity and commitment to the community, thanks so much.

My condolences to your department. Iggy was not only a member of the fire service he was a brother to many. He will be missed by all but never forgotten. I had the honor of spending 2 weeks with him in 1998 in Florida. He was a grate man and we all learned from him. Prayers to your department and his family.

I grew up in Hughesville and fondly remember many great things about the fire department. My grandfather, Clarence McDonagh was one of those instrumental in the beginnings of the HVFD. My grandfathers business, Hughesville Motors, was located right next to the firehouse and their home was next to that. Needless to say, I visited the firehouse many many many times. I even ran for the title of Miss Fire Prevention in the late 60's...didn't win but was honored just the same. Many uncles, cousins and brothers served the fire house throughout the years. We lived up on the hill beyond what was Bowling's Store and my Dad raised tobacco... My Mom worked at the locale bank. My Grandmother Harrison lived on the corner of Benedict Road and the tree that once stood in the front of her house was planted by my grandfather and was decorated each Christmas season and Santa would visit on the back of fire truck. I still have a picture of me sitting on his lap at that very site. Oh my, I've opened up a can of worms and the memories are just flooding out. Anyway, the Hughesville Fire Department taught me great respect for firemen and what they do. To this day I yell at motorists who don't yield to fire trucks...yes, it is deep seated, but I'm proud of my roots. I even remember helping to make sandwiches for many of the fire fighters who were called to serve when one of the Hughesville tobacco barns burned down...etc. etc. etc.

We purchased a rear mount rescue pumper from Custom Fire a couple of years ago and like it extremely well. Minor adjustments, but nothing out of the ordinary. I have been following the construction of your unit on Custom's webpage. GREAT LOOKING UNIT!!
Only question I have, is how many personnel does it carry?
Our unit is on their website.

On behalf of the Officers and Members of the Brandywine Volunteer Fire Department, I would like to thank the two members of the Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department for bringing your fire engine to our open house today, October 2, 2011. Unfortunately the weather was rainy and cloudy. I appreciate your time and assistance today. I have had nothing but compliments from my members and the members of the community that did come out and support us for your support and showing. If there is anything that you would like us to do in return, please let me know. Once again thank you!

Just wanted you all to know how grateful I am of all of you, your dedication, professionalism and saving acts of kindness. I was injured in an auto accident early Oct. 2010 and you saved a mother, daughter, sister and friend! I will never forget that night or the wonderful people who gathered around like angels. When I'm back on my feet and walking again, I will be sure to pay you a visit :) Sincerely, Survivor
Thank you so much for making my day. It was a wonderful surprise to see Santa this evening. Now I know why I wanted to live in Southern Maryland the community pride is great. I live on Baywood Ct and look forward to supporting your volunteers and the Hughesville community. Again Thank you and keep making smiles.
Thank you for being firefighters and keeping people safe. I applaud your service to your community. Thank you for all that you do. I'd like to let you know about some special Firefighters tribute pages on my website. I set them up to honor firefighters everywhere. If you get a chance, please check them out.
