On 01-20-05 at approximately 4:34 AM, units from Hughesville Fire and EMS, Benedict and Waldorf fire departments were alerted to 30225 Three Notch Road in St. Mary’s County for a working house fire.

At 4:43 AM, Engine 23 arrived to find a two story commercial antique store with heavy fire showing from the first and second floors. Engine 23 laid a supply line from the hydrant on Three Notch Road and positioned in front of the house. Several units from Mechanicsville’s Fire and EMS arrived. Crews attempted an interior attack with several hand lines but the fire was too intense.

Crews were pulled away from the structure and two elevated master streams were placed in service to control the fire. After approximately four hours of overhaul operations, units were released from the scene. The structure used to be a two story single family dwelling and it suffered a total loss. Mechanicsville Chief 2A (Pullium) was the Incident Commander.
