On May 12th, 2021 at 0300 hours, Hughesville Volunteers along with surrounding departments were alerted to the 5900 Block of Roosevelt Place in Hughesville for the structure fire. Engine 22 and Engine Tanker 2 made the response. Engine 22 arrived on scene and located an auto shop garage with smoke showing. The crew from Engine 22 along with the crew from Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department quickly extinguished a smoldering fire that was in the exterior wall and roof of the garage. Once the fire was extinguished units cleared the scene. Hughesville Volunteers operated on scene for approximately 60 minutes. The State Fire Marshal's Office was notified of the incident, and it was determined the fire was accidental due to the use of a wood stove utilized for heat.
