Multiple Emergency Responses within Minutes

On April 7th at approximately 2:54 PM, Hughesville Volunteers were alerted to Leonardtown Road in the area of Old Leonardtown Road for the motor vehicle collision. A few moments later, an Anne Arundel Battalion Chief who was off duty, arrived on scene and discovered one subject trapped. Chief 2, Squad 2 and Paramedic Ambulance 28 made the response.

While responding, at 2:56 PM (2 minutes later), Tanker 2 was alerted to the 12000 block of Hidden View Place for the structure fire. Tanker 2 made the response. Waldorf units were on the scene confirming a working fire.Tanker 2 was eventually placed in service and was not utilized on the fire ground.

Squad 2 arrived on scene of the collision and confirmed one trapped. The crew quickly went to work stabilizing the vehicle and extricating the victim. Once extricated, the victim was turned over to Paramedics Ambulance 28 for treatment. After assessing injuries, Squad 2 requested a helicopter to transport the victim.

At 3:01 PM, seven minutes after the initial dispatch, Station 2 was alerted for the landing site. Engine Tanker 2 made the response along with Chief 2A. Units established a landing site at SMECO for Trooper 2 who transported the victim to an area hospital.

During all these responses, Hughesville maintained an additional crew at the station for Engine 22 to ensure our citizens were covered in the event an additional emergency was dispatched.
