By Safety Officer Brad Saunders
January 29, 2026

On January 29th, 2026 at approximately 4:13 am, Charles County Communications dispatched a structure fire on Powerline Place in Indian Head. Chief 8A arrived on scene to find heavy fire showing on side A of a single family home. Due to the recent snow and ice, the residence was extremely challenging to access. Chief 8A requested multiple brush trucks to access the residence. Hughesville Volunteers were alerted to assist with the brush trucks and Tankers. Brush 2, Tanker 2 and Engine Tanker 2 made the response. Brush trucks and UTV's shuttled water and personnel to the fire ground due the snow and ice conditions. One civilian patient was treated and transported to an area hospital for their burns.

Brush 2 arrived on scene and assisted with water supply until released after about one hour of operations. Tanker 2 and Engine Tanker 2 were placed in service and were not utilized for water supply.

During operations, one medical personnel was injured while attempting to assist the burn patient and transported to the hospital for injuries sustained. We wish a speedy recovery to the victim and provider injured during this incident.

Units: Brush 2, Tanker 2, Engine Tanker 2
