By Safety Officer Brad Saunders
December 4, 2025

On December 3rd at approximately 9:26 pm, Hughesville Volunteers were alerted to the 800 block of Copley Avenue in Waldorf for the structure fire. Chief 2, Chief 2A and Squad 2 made the response. The first arriving units from Waldorf advised the fire was "working" which prompted the working fire dispatch. This dispatch included Engine 22, which made the response with Chief 2B.

Upon arrival, Chief 2 was assigned the Division 2 supervisor. Squad 2 assisted Truck 11 with access to the garage. Once access was gained, Squad 2 advanced an attack line into the garage extinguishing all visible fire. Once the garage fire was under control, Squad 2's crew was relocated to the first and second floors to conduct primary and secondary searches. Engine 22, Chief 2A and Chief 2B arrived on scene deploying an attack line to the second floor and attic to assist with extinguishment.

Squad 2 secured the utilities to the residence. Once the fire was fully extinguished, both crews assisted with salvage and overhaul. Units operated on the scene for nearly two hours before being released.

Units: Chief 2, Chief 2A, Chief 2B, Squad 2, Engine 22
