On 1/23/2025 Hughesville Volunteers and surrounding departments were alerted to the 9100 block of Leonardtown Road for the motor vehicle collision with reported subjects trapped. Chief 2, Chief 2A, Squad 2, Engine 22, Paramedic Ambulance 28 and Ambulance 27 made the response.

Units arrived on scene to find a two vehicle head on collision. Chief 2A established command and Chief 2 took the extrication group. Extrication group confirmed two patients trapped, one in each vehicle.

Engine 22 and Squad 2 began stabilizing vehicles and extrication efforts. The Incident Commander requested two helicopters to transport the victims local traumas facilities. One patient was quickly extricated and transferred to paramedic Ambulance 28 prior to medevac.

Mechanicsville Squad 2 arrived on scene and was assigned to assist the extrication group. Units extricated the second patient who was turned over to Ambulance 27.

Maryland State Police Trooper 2 and United States Park Police Eagle 2 initially responded for transport. Once both patients were evaluated and EMS crews consulted with Trooper 2. Trooper 2 determined they could transport both patients. Eagle 2 was placed in service. Both patients were transported to the landing site handled by Benedict Rescue Engine 5. Local law enforcement handled the investigation after the scene was released from crews.

Dentsville Engine 151 provided coverage in Hughesville briefly while units operated on the scene.
