MVC Extrication

On May 28th at approximately 615AM, Hughesville Volunteers were alerted to Mechanicsville Road and Thomas Ln in St Mary’s County for the MVC Extrication. Squad 2 and Paramedic Ambulance 28 responded.
St Mary’s Squad 2 arrived on scene to find a 2 vehicle head on collision with one person trapped. Hughesville Squad 2 arrived moments later and assisted with extrication. Both squad crews removed the drivers and passengers doors, before removing the roof and rolling the dashboard to free the patient. Once removed the patient was transported to the Mechanicsville Moose Lodge by Ambulance 297C to meet Trooper 7 for transport. Paramedic Ambulance 28 assessed the driver of the second vehicle who refused treatment and transport.

A controlled burn set by forest officials in April escaped its boundaries, damaging private property by burning 16 pine trees, scorching others, and destroying fencing, with the U.S. Forest Service now working with the landowner to address the damage
