Lowering of Flags
By Firefighter/EMT-B Brad Saunders
August 12, 2021
Today members of Company 2 lowered our flags to half staff in honor of Captain Joshua Laird of the Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue. Captain Laird died in the line of duty on a residential structure fire when he fell through the first floor into the basement. The flags will remain at half staff until the day of interment.
Probationary members lowered the flags and paid respects to our fallen brothers and sisters. This is also a somber reminder of the inherent risks Career and Volunteer Fire and EMS members take while responding to our community needs.
Hughesville Volunteers would like to offer our condolences to the family of Captain Laird, friends of Captain Laird and the Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue.
