Structure Fire Commercial Building

On May 24, 2020 at approximately 2:00am, Rescue Squad 2 with Volunteers from the Hughesville Vol. Fire Department responded to 2400 Old Washington Road in Waldorf for a reported structure fire in a Single Family Dwelling. While enroute, fire communications upgraded the call to a Commercial Building Fire with smoke coming from the top floor windows. Waldorf Engine 31 arrived on scene and confirmed smoke coming from a top floor window. Hughesville Rescue Squad 2 arrived on scene and was assigned to conduct a primary search of the first and second floor with negative results. The fire was contained to the second floor bedroom with minimal extension throughout the structure. Command held the units from Waldorf and La Plata and released all other units from the scene.
