Structure Fire Single Family
By Firefighter Randy Green
April 6, 2020
On Monday, April 6, 2020 at approximately 8:50am, the Charles County Emergency 9-1-1 dispatch center was notified of a reported Structure Fire on Edelen Drive with a caller still inside advising "my house is on fire".
The Volunteers of Hughesville Fire Department responded with Engine Tanker 2 and arrived on scene side with fire through the roof. Chief 2A sized up the structure and assumed command while the Engine crew pulled the cross lay and made an interior attack on the fire. The fire was under control within five minutes, and all occupants escaped safely. The fire appears to have started in the chimney with extension into one bedroom and the attic. With the quick response from Hugheville Volunteer Fire Department and area companies, minimal damage was done.
