By Firefighter Randy Green
May 19, 2020

On May 19th at approximately 9:01pm, Volunteers from the Hughesville Vol. Fire Department were dispatched to assist units with a "fully involved" working house fire in Saint Leonard of Calvert County. Engine 22 arrived on scene side (one street over) to assist Engine 34, who was running low on water supply due to a malfunctioning hydrant in the area. Engine 22 quickly picked up Engine 34 hose lines and began a pump relay operation. Engine 22 and Rescue Squad 2 members worked with the Incident Commander for the remainder of the assignment. Water supply operations were maintained through Engine 22 with Tankers from additional surrounding stations until the fire was fully extinguished.
