| The Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department is always looking for Operational Firefighters, EMT’s, Ladies Auxiliary, or Administration members. As a volunteer department, more hands make light work. The Hughesville VFD operates with one Engine, one Engine Tanker, one Tanker, one Rescue Squad, one Brush Truck, one UTV, and one Volunteer staffed BLS Unit. We handle 1,200-1,300 runs each year, and we offer the ability to sleep in the firehouse with the fulfillment of member expectations. Hughesville VFD provides free training, state of the art equipment, apparatus, and gear.
There is no experience required as we will teach you skills in house, and offer classes through the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute (MFRI) through University of Maryland.
There are tax incentives, scholarships, and more! As an operational, probationary member for fire or EMS you will be involved in live training and responses.
