On September 23rd at approximately 5:46 PM during tropical storm Ophelia, Hughesville Volunteers were alerted to Old Leonardtown Road and Burnt Store Road for the motor vehicle collision. Squad 2, Paramedic Ambulance 28 and Battalion Chief 2C responded. Paramedic Ambulance 158 from Dentsville also responded upon learning multiple patients were involved. Hughesville units arrived to find a two vehicle T-bone style collision. Both drivers had exited the vehicle prior to our arrival, however two children were in the back seat of one of the vehicles and unable to exit. The crew from Squad 2 removed the passenger side door and were able to free the children. All occupants of the vehicle were assessed by the ambulances and transported to an area hospital for evaluation. The scene was turned over to the Maryland State Police for investigation. Units operated for approximately 30 minutes. |
